The Journal of Pediatric Neurosciences was started in 2006 as the official publication of the Indian Society of Pediatric Neurosurgery and Dr. Suresh Sankhla was the founding Editor. With great personal effort and dedication Suresh nurtured this journal for four years and matured it into an excellent journal. The journal was coming out regularly twice a year with good articles from India and also from abroad.
I was honored to be made the Editor of this prestigious Journal of Pediatric Neurosciences six years ago. It has been a long and arduous task to steer this eminent journal to its current status. We started publishing this journal three times a year and subsequently four times a year. The journal started attracting attention abroad and we started getting articles from various countries - even from USA and UK. The quality of papers is excellent and we get a good mixture of neurosurgery and neurology papers. A new cover was designed for the journal to reflect the neurosciences and pediatric aspects that the journal represented. Every year the background of the cover got a new color whereas the front panel remained constant for continuity. Our subscription base increased from members of the Society to other neurologists and neurosurgeons as well as the academically oriented pediatricians. All this was possible because of the unstinting support of the Indian Society of Pediatric Neurosurgery as well as all of you - readers and contributors. We are grateful for the overwhelming number of papers which have been submitted for publication (which has resulted in some delay in processing at the moment). A special thanks to all the reviewers especially our star reviewers – Dr. B Chidambaram (over 100 papers reviewed) and Drs. VG Ramesh and S Chatterjee (over 50 reviews each). All these activities have taken their toll on our time and resources – but believe me every moment of this journey has been most enjoyable and memorable.
It is now time to pass on the baton. Dr. Sandip Chatterjee is the new Editor – a dynamic, scientifically tempered, high achiever. I am sure that he will infuse a new spirit into the journal and bring many innovative ideas and features. I have no hesitation in visualising the further growth and popularity of the Journal under his astute guidance and leadership.
I thank you all once again for your cooperation and collaboration.
